Dr. Jacobsen at Mako robot demoNOBLESVILLE, IN — Riverview Health has opened three new orthopedic walk-in clinics in Carmel, Noblesville, and Westfield, where patients can receive expert evaluation and treatment for conditions including sprains, strains, fractures, sports injuries, sudden onset pain and chronic orthopedic issues that have recently worsened. The walk-in clinics, designed to provide timely treatment while helping patients avoid unnecessary emergency room visits, opens September 28, and will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Care teams include orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners, providing patients with access to a full spectrum of orthopedic expertise.

“Orthopedic injuries rarely happen at a convenient time, and patients often need answers quickly to prevent further discomfort and get back to their daily lives,” said Stacie Vance, Vice President, Orthopedics at Riverview Health. “Our walk-in clinics provide immediate access to specialized orthopedic care, advanced imaging and treatment resources in one location, ensuring patients receive the right care from the right experts without unnecessary delays.”

Dr. Jacobsen and Mako RobotUnlike many urgent care settings, the orthopedic walk-in clinics are equipped with comprehensive diagnostic and treatment resources on-site, including X-ray imaging, ultrasound, bracing, casting, injections and durable medical equipment. In addition, each clinic is housed within existing orthopedic offices, making it easier for patients to transition to ongoing care when needed, and ultimately bridging the gap between primary care and emergency services for orthopedic injuries.

"The sooner patients receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, the better their chances for a successful recovery,” said Dr. Stephen Jacobsen, orthopedic surgeon at Riverview Health. “These walk-in clinics provide a more efficient, patient-centered approach that improves access to specialized care throughout our community.”

As part of its commitment to advancing orthopedic care, Riverview Health recently acquired the Mako robotic-assisted surgical system from Stryker. The investment makes Riverview Health one of the first providers in the region to offer the platform’s shoulder replacement technology, expanding access to leading surgical care for patients throughout the area.

The Mako system utilizes CT-based 3D modeling technology to assist surgeons with preoperative planning and precision-guided bone preparation. The platform is designed to improve surgical accuracy, reduce disruption to surrounding tissue, and support better patient outcomes.

“The addition of the walk-in clinics and robotic-assisted surgical technology reflects Riverview Health’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to innovative, patient-centered orthopedic care,” noted Julie Nix, President and CEO of Riverview Health. “Together, these investments provide patients with more convenient entry points for treatment, greater access to specialized providers, and cutting-edge surgical solutions closer to home.”
