Welcoming a new baby is a life-changing experience, and at Riverview Health, we are honored to walk alongside your family during this extraordinary time.
Our experienced team of maternity nurses, obstetricians, and pediatric hospitalists provides personalized, compassionate care in a comfortable, family-centered environment. From labor through recovery, we prioritize your comfort, support your birth preferences whenever possible, and ensure the health and well-being of both you and your baby. Our commitment to safe, evidence-based maternity care has helped us maintain a C-section rate that remains consistently below the national average, reflecting our focus on supporting healthy births.
Supported Every Step of the Way: Expecting the Unexpected
Miah shares her experience with Riverview Health’s dedicated team of maternity nurses, obstetricians and pediatric hospitalists, who provided personalized, compassionate care throughout her delivery. For Miah, Riverview is a community that truly cares. “If you are having a baby, come to Riverview. You’ll be in good hands,” says Miah.
For first-time parents Ryan and Lauren, pregnancy was smooth sailing. All seemed to go as planned until the moment their baby finally arrived. Their daughter swallowed too much fluid during delivery, but with special attention from the pediatric hospitalist team at Riverview Health, she was cared for quickly and sent home healthy.
Women of Vision Grants: Maternity Support
Each year, Riverview Health Foundation Women of Vision Giving Club members choose several grant recipients for the money they’ve raised throughout the previous year. Several Riverview Health services depend on this grant money each year to be able to continue and improve the care they provide to patients and community members.
Riverview Health Maternity Center
Our maternity experts ensure all your needs are met with care and efficiency throughout your childbirth experience. By providing an array of pain relief and anesthesia options, your comfort level remains a top priority. Our maternity staff and obstetricians also try to adhere as much as possible to your labor and birthing preferences while ensuring the health of your baby. For this reason, Riverview Health hasn’t had any early elective deliveries since 2013, and our first-time c-section rate is below the national average.

Level II Special Care Nursery
Our expertly trained and experienced nurses, combined with our partnership with Peyton Manning Ascension St. Vincent pediatric newborn hospitalists means you can rest assured your new baby will be well cared for. Pediatric newborn hospitalists are doctors who have received extensive neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) training and can care for newborns who are experiencing a range of issues such as respiratory distress, jaundice and infections. They also work closely with nurses and respiratory therapists and will coordinate care for your newborn, should they need to be transferred to more specialized care. All of our nurses are specially trained in newborn resuscitation and stabilization so we can be prepared for any event. We can care for up to six babies at a time in this space.
Our skilled Level II Special Care Nursery staff care for:
- Babies who need oxygen, IV fluids, continuous observation or CPAP
- Babies who are born at or after 34 weeks gestation. These babies may have some health problems, but they’re not so serious that they need a more specialized care.
- Babies who are born before 32 weeks and up, until they can be moved to a nursery that provides more specialized care.
- Babies who have just gotten out of a NICU and are growing and doing well but are not ready to go home.
- Babies who need equipment to help them breathe.
